SEAS THE DAY SEMINAR SPEAKER

THOMAS A. GORCZYNSKI, EA, CTC, USTCP

Thomas is a Phoenix based tax professional who specializes in advanced tax planning strategies, tax preparation and planning for individuals and small businesses, international tax compliance and tax problem representation. He gained his practical knowledge of tax law during five years of experience working on complex civil and criminal tax matters at tax controversy law firms. He has been an Enrolled Agent since 2009 and is admitted to practice before the US Tax Court, an honor earned by only 300 non-attorneys in the US.

He is a Fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute as well as a member of NAEA and NATP. He earned a Master of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University and a Certificate in Finance and Accounting from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Thomas is a nationally known speaker on tax law and procedure. He will be speaking to us on our cruise on December 8 and 9 for 12 hours of CPE.

Tax Planning Strategies for Individuals
Tax planning is using the tax law to leverage short-term and long-term tax savings for your clients. This course focuses on strategies you can implement with individual taxpayers. 

Tax Planning Strategies for Business
Tax planning is using the tax law to leverage short-term and long-term tax savings for your clients. This course focuses on strategies you can implement with taxpayers who own businesses or rental properties. 

FBAR and Form 8938
The United States has many requirements for United States citizens and residents to report their foreign income, assets, and activities. We will review in-depth the FBAR and Form 8938 as well as discuss foreign compliance in general and other reportable events. 

Mastering Tax Research
Tax practitioners often encounter transactions for which the proper tax treatment is not readily known. With strong tax research skills, a tax practitioner can efficiently locate the correct answer with confidence. In this class, we will outline a structured tax research process that can be applied to any tax research question. Real-life problems from actual practice will be used to demonstrate the research process using both free and subscription resources. 

Section 199A Post Tax Season
This course will include a high-level review of how Section 199A operates and delve in-depth into the common issues and confusion points from the 2018 tax season. 

Introduction to Appeals Learning to represent taxpayers before the IRS Appeals Office is critical. This course will review the IRS Appeals Office structure and processes, the tax matters that can go to Appeals, and how to initiate Appeals review. Effective advocacy with Appeals as well as settlement approaches based on the hazards of litigation will be discussed.

TUESDAY-WEDNESDAY-THURSDAY 12/10 THRU 12/12 DAYS FOUR, FIVE AND SIX: Exploring the ABC islands: Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao.

FRIDAY-SATURDAY 12/13 & 12/14: Leisure days at sea.

SUNDAY 12/15/19: Arrive Ft. Lauderdale. Disembark.
